Angels tag out Goodrum in a rundown | 06/17/2021

Six throws for the Angels to get Goodrum in a rundown. Baddoo, who hit the ball back to the pitcher, made it to third. If I was on the beat, I would ask Maddon is they worked on rundowns at all in spring training. I don't think they've executed any rundowns well all season. Maybe that's why The Athletic isn't covering them.

I missed that particular play last night and didn't see it until hitting your link. That was really bad. Between that and the bullpen coming close to blowing a six-run lead, I don't know if I've ever been more ticked off about a game the Angels actually won.

They keep saying how good the relievers are, then they mumble through the stats, that they're just about the worst in the game.

Slagers, Guerra, even Iglesias. Iglesias has escaped some dramatic ninth innings, but they all give up homers. Tony Watson, he gave up 6 runs to the A's and got no outs. He he was back out there last night for the guy to hit his first pitch off the fence. And they praise Maddon for "putting the guy right back out there after a bad game, that builds confidence."

I'm confident they can't pitch. Strickland gave up a homer every game he was used, but they kept hyping his ERA with the Rays.

If a reliever is on the Angels, it's because his previous team knows he can't pitch.

I cannot explain why Lovullo still has a job. He's gotta be it.

Watched Phillies-Giants on Peacock tonight. Very good presentation. Creating a login was no problem. Was anticipating a lot of buffering if there was a lot of demand and some freezeups because our home wifi has been that way the last few weeks, but no major problems. And the four-man booth (Jon Miller, Mike Krukow, John Kruk and Jimmy Rollins) worked.

First time back at a ball park. Sitting in a vax section. Needed to show my card (suck it Death Santis) and people need to wear masks around the yard (they’re not because the order is basically lifted). But it’s so nice I could weep.

The park looks weird because there’s pockets of full sections with mostly empty ones.

    Let’s Go Giants!

What are those special Giants jerseys? I've never seen the sleeve stripes or number fonts before.

They're wearing San Francisco Sea Lions throwbacks (a short-lived Negro League team) for Juneteenth. Paul Lukas' Uni-Watch had the skinny on Thursday:

Oh my god what a fun time. Giants got trashed but I don’t care. I got to step over people to get to my seat. Had a hot dog next to a stranger. It felt sort of normal. They didn’t do fountain sodas which was odd to me but it was whatever. The whole thing was cathartic. Just a thrill to be back. Can’t even begin to say how much I’ve missed being there. I know not every place will have the precautions in place, but it was just so relaxing to be able to relax and know everyone around me was protected.

Oh and Harper can suck on one. I know he got brushed back but good lord. Get back in and hit.
