I get it. I was a huge fan of the original Marvel comic in the '80s. (This inspired me to go back and look through "Silent Interlude" yet again. (For those who don't know, there is nothing to read. It was an issue that famously only had images with no words.)

It looks like the movie will try to capture some elements of the narrative from the comics, though the circumstances under which Snake Eyes saves Storm Shadow's life are very different. Golding doesn't really look like Snake Eyes before he was maimed in the comics, but I can understand why they didn't want to go with a white guy with blonde hair.

Actually, the thing other than the trailer that gives me some hope is that Larry Hama has apparently given the movie his approval.

You should go back and read Issue Nos. 84-85 as well. It's a two-parter that reveals a lot more of the backstory about Zartan killing the Hard Master, and the second part is another silent issue that's pretty cool.

If Hama signed off on the movie, then it must be at least some degree of faithful to the comics. Although the more recent Joe stuff feels like he's losing his mind a bit, like he's just playing with the toys and writing comics based off of what happens. Dude is in his early 70s, it's amazing he can still do a monthly comic book.

I haven't read any of the new stuff in years, though I remember reading that he was returning to writing it.

I'm probably going to re-read the entire original run at some point soon. G.I. Joe: Resolute is still better than anything they've done in live action.

There's been a couple of different series done by IDW. The reboot around 2009ish was really, really good. It had a main title and several different miniseries spinoffs, a lot of which focused on Chuckles infiltrating Cobra as a deep undercover spy. High recommend on that one.
And then there was a totally separate book that's written by Larry Hama and picked up the Marvel continuity. Its first issue, even, was No. 156. I think they're up around No. 280 now. It's not terrible, but the original run was much better. There have been some continuity issues (definitively dead characters being rebooted or reappearing with little to no explanation) and new characters (cybernetic blue ninjas) that are really hit-and-miss. My favorite G.I. Joe comics were always the smaller, more reality-based ones where there's some unit running a mission in and out of Sierra Gordo.

New trailer for Halloween Kills is out. I think Rob Zombie looked at the violence and said, "Guys, maybe tone it down a little?"

Popular Mechanics takes a stab at ranking the top 100 video games of all time.
I suppose it's a decent list. It's certainly a nice mix of platforms, genres and eras, and gives credit where it's due to the innovators (like putting Street Fighter 2 well ahead of the best Mortal Kombat game). Still, I think the top 10-15 are a little iffy. Super Mario Bros. 3 is way too low, and some of the arcade classics are probably too high.

I've never been a big gamer and I've only ever owned Nintendo systems, but I love every version of Zelda. Ocarina of Time was my favorite.

Well, if you've loved every version of Zelda, BoTW is not to be missed, even if you have to buy a Switch.

Been thinking about it. Had some unanticipated expenses this summer though

There’s no way Anakin should have been defeated by Obi-Wan in ROTS.
