I will never understand why ESPN placed such a high value on Greenburg and apparently valued Golic a lot less. They are both vanilla and both seemingly easily replaceable. They were the Applebees of sports radio.

I dunno, somehow good to see untalented shithead get it in the ass instead of usual working stiffs. Greenberg next, if there's justice.

Most revealing thing is that Greenberg never told Golic about his plans or desires to break up and have his own TV show in NYC until the deal was done. I think the Beastie Boys entitled an album alluding to this sort of thing.

When Golic asked two executives to explain why he was no longer wanted, he says he didn’t gain much clarity.

“The first response was ‘We don’t have to tell you,’ ” Golic said. “And I was like OK, and then it was ‘Well we just felt it was time for a change.’ ”

Perhaps they were being polite. Maybe the "clarity" was this: "Your show sucks. We all think your show sucks."

    Meh.
When ESPN fired me and 30 of my colleagues John Skipper came to our soundstage personally to let us know...and made a point of saying he never liked our concept to begin with.
Not sure if being told that to your face makes it any easier, Mr Golic.

If you are on-air talent and they are not re-signing you and are not even making you a reduced offer, you don’t need to hear the reason. They are doing it because they have decided the on-air product would be better if you were not a part of it.
