"State pay is $70,000, that's what Cal Fire pays to a state firefighter. The United States Forest Service pays $38,000."

You pay em $13.50 an hour to do that, and I'm not sure what anybody expects.

Wait, so low pay can be a factor in why people are quitting? Who knew?

Alma: We’re being so mean to cops they have no choice but to quit. Those poor cops.

Others: it isn’t just cops …

*post about firefighters quitting in droves*

    Alma: DOESN’T COUNT! DOESN’T COUNT!

Me thinks the number one reason people stay in jobs is not because of benefits, pay or they enjoy the work or feel "fulfilled" it's because they don't want to have to look for another one. With so many people laid off during the pandemic, they realized they had options. The unemployment cushion probably helped as well.
I was thinking about the first time I bought a car and the monthly payment was explained to me, I thought "Ok, I can do that, and when I'm really making some money in a couple of years it will be no sweat." Ha, ha.
