The Patriot, aka Del Wilkes dies.



He first became prominent as The Trooper in the dying days of the AWA. Then he adopted the Patriot gimmick in the early 90s and was the top guy in the Global Wrestling Federation in Dallas in the early 90s, which was televised on ESPN. Then he spent some time in Japan, I think, and was off of US TV until joining the WWF briefly in ‘97, when he had a short feud with Bret Hart when Bret was doing the anti-American gimmick. He mostly was known for being the first to have Kurt Angle’s “You Suck!” entrance theme.

Solid career that,I think was heavily affected by injuries. RIP

 

Wasn't he also the Fake Sting during the NWO angle?

 

That was Jeff Farmer, basically an indie guy and WCW jobber.

 

Injuries that led to a pretty bad prescription drug addiction. He was a guest on the Steve Austin podcast a few years ago and recounted those days; the amount of pills he took a day and the money spent on them and what they did to him was pretty mind-boggling.

Yep. Wonder if they made a deal about her outside income.

 

If this Liv Morgan angle allows for an authority angle to beat Zelina Vega, Sonya Deville and others to become a big-time babyface, I’m all for it. Even better if she chases a Bayley or Charlotte (though her title number is ridiculous as is) to become champion.

 

Guess that absence from the Roman storyline will last a bit longer.
