I’m for NIL. Get paid whatever the market bears.

Just don’t be surprised when some programs get split between financial haves/have nots. When the QB from the affluent family gets a big endorsement but the RB or WR who grew up with nothing and has no local ties still has no money.

How’s that different than what’s happening now?

The guys on the teams don't already envy the guy driving the new car?

Oh, and Reggie Bush has decided he did nothing wrong and he wants his Heisman back.

I think there is going to be plenty of dollars. And I think you focus too much on the people who are going to offer endorsements to entice you to their school. I think for a lot of these athletes, there's going to be endorsement deals from their hometowns and the like. For the big bucks? No. But why wouldn't somebody give a couple thousand dollars to the local kid playing division one sports? It's not just the big money that's going to come after these athletes, it's all the money.

I think the bulk of the cash is going to come from all these online sites that we geezers barely comprehend and Mr. Booster who owns the car lot across town is going to be a relatively minor player. Having 100,000 social media followers will be more valuable than having a 1000-yard rushing season in NIL world.

I also think less than five percent of athletes, maybe much less, will clear $10k or more a year from this stuff. And after some initial turmoil, the sixth man at Seton Hall will find out the offers aren’t any better if they transfer to become the sixth man at Oklahoma State.

I also also think that many of the truly elite five stars in football and basketball might grab some easy cash that doesn’t take up much time but they aren’t going to be as active in this realm because they are locked in on the real payday from the NFL/NBA.

I am fully prepared to have any or all of these takes proven hilariously wrong.

I think you might be right. Most of the deals I’ve seen so far are social media campaigns. Kids are on IG and TikTok already. So these won’t take up any extra time.

That was the story I pitched today as well. Go see what the walk-ons from our little towns in the area may have.

Waiting to see how this will impact good ol' Gonzaga. Their star players are big fish in the (relatively) small pond that is Spokane.

Mark Few has been a supporter of NIL in general ... we'll see if it affects the unity of his team. Or, maybe, gives him another recruiting tool to use.

Not much different than how they're getting paid now.

I'm sure the ACC will weep ... just as it did when Bobby Bowden and the air of invincibility left Tallahassee.

It's happening, anyway. Does anyone honestly believe that everyone was on some honor system, amateur style?
