I too, hope she continues in good health. I also hope she doesn't feel scared about this positive test... I feel like a 7 year old can understand the seriousness that a positive test has underscored for so many. Stay strong. Stay well.

Besides the health issues, we were going to see my brother-in-law, his wife and their youngest son this weekend in KC. They’re in from Hawaii for a volleyball tournament, and we haven’t seen them in two or three years. We had tickets to tomorrow’s Royals-Twins game, we were going to Worlds of Heat and Humidity and Overstimulated Kids and general other Kansas City shit.

    Now, we’re stuck at home.

For reasons that aren’t important  I found out daycare employers aren’t mandated to get the vaccine. Why the fuck not? You’re in a room full of kids who aren’t eligible for the vaccine and you don’t want them protected? And providers are hiding behind HIPPA to not answer if every employee is vaccinated. It’s not that we need to know Karen specifically didn’t get it, but wouldn’t it help if a parent is making a decision?

I wonder how many kids in her class also tested positive. There's just so much about this that is maddening.

    Freedumb is king.
Trump got voted out of office, but his legacy lingers. Especially in his klan's strongholds.

This is why NC State baseball got kicked out of the NCAA tournament. No leadership or encouragement to get vaccinated.
Likewise, SI reported in May that Clemson football had a 10% vaccination rate. The state of South Carolina made the vaccine available to all adults in the last week of March. Spring game was April 3. Players had four weeks to get it done before end of semester. While I’m sure their totals are higher by now, they’re probably still lagging.

    Day ain't over yet.
At this point, Trumpists know damned well that no state is going back. They are going to refuse to be vaccinated just to hurt the country, which means hurting Biden and giving their lord and savior something to talk about on the revenge tour.

I told my wife I would know that the pandemic was over the day the scoop and bag your own bulk foods returned to the grocery store. Today when I visited the hippie natural food store, they were back. I dug in and bagged up my small symbolic pile of cinnamon gummy bears, fully aware that I am going to die.

Past 6 days (I screwed up on dates and measured only six rather than seven):
States with Democratic governors: 17.79 new cases per 100K
States with Trumpist governors: 36.40 new cases per 100K

But it's only a generational thing. It's not about politics. Right.
