You can make the case that Griffey was a really could candidate in 93, 94, 96 and 98. Frank Thomas was going to win in one of those first years (93 most likely) and A-Rod was the best player on the Mariners in both 96 and 98.

Baseball — Since the Cubs no-hit the Dodgers last week, LA is 8-0 and Chicago 0-8.

Saw where the Washington Baseball Team, per city ordinance, had to cancel "Freedom Fireworks" last night. Sure hope they served Freedom Fries at the concession stands, though. Gotta get that virtue signaling in there somehow.

It’s a weird thing, we were there July 3, 2017 when they did fireworks at Nat’s Park. No noise ordinance cancelled it then. They are either passed the ordinance in the last few years or the city doesn’t want Independence Day celebrated. And the reason we celebrate with fireworks is John Adams.

Mets were down 5-4 entering the top of the 7th in the day-night doubleheader. Yanks bring in Chapman. He gets lit up again along with Lucas Luettge for six runs. Mets now up 10-5.

Somewhere, George Steinbrenner is punching out a marshmallow angel.

Boone is going to get fired during the All-Star break. Every button he pushes is wrong and he doubles down as it’s going wrong
