When I was a pup I was the editor of the community paper for a wealthy Nashville suburb with a football factory high school. Robin covered many of their games for WSMV and we struck up an acquaintance. I saw first hand how hard she worked - she would call me up the day before the game and pick my brain about the week’s practices. She’d then follow up on the weekend to see what I was writing for Monday’s edition. Mind you, she was pounding this pavement for what at most would be a 60second clip on the Friday late broadcast.
    Tons of respect for her.

I think Maria Taylor is better at her job than Rachel Nichols

    That's incredible... and smart.

She was also doing this at a time when I can't imagine the "hate mail" and calls she probably took from the pricks in the audience.

Rachel Nichols is pretty screwed here.

If you are going to focus on the NBA, it's a pretty rough look to be the white woman saying "ESPN needs to be better with diversity, and by 'diversity' I mean me -- not some Black chick."

And Maria Taylor is very, very good at her job.

This whole story is a gift to the Trumpist media. On so many levels.

Sports has shifted so much in the last five years to player-centric and not team-centric.

It only makes sense to have your staff reflect the athletes you cover, even more so than the background of the audience who watches. This is a real tipping point that’s been surpassed in recent years.

The last fucking thing anyone should want is Sinclair with a partial NFL deal and having a say in Olympic coverage.

Sinclair is interested in the regional networks, not NBC’s national services. Comcast is keeping those.
