Saw Another Round, the Danish movie that won the Oscar for best foreign film this year. Four middle-age schoolteachers read about a study from Norway that says that humans are naturally .05% deficient in their blood alcohol level. As an experiment, they decide to drink constantly throughout the day - including at work - to make up for it.

The first half-hour is pretty slow. They take forever to set up the premise. But the rest is funny and sad and insightful. So, yeah, not only a great but rewatchable flick.

Fear Street: 1994. First of a three-part anthology based on an RL Stine series was way better than I anticipated. Several scenes of palpable dread. Characters weren’t 2D stereotypes. Great finish that kept me off-kilter. Has some open-ended questions that should be answered in the next two parts.

    Tomorrow War

Is what is and not that good at that.

Chris Pratt is always fun to watch, even, sort of, in this.

In less than a week my daughter and I will be watching Black Widow on an IMAX screen.

Summer of Soul, now that was some good fun. Sly and the Family Stone at their best.

Pratt looked like he couldn’t believe he was in a movie that stupid. Terrible acting from almost all involved, a flimsy plot, very little character development and crappy CGI.

Other than that, it was great.

I liked it but I don’t think it is worthy of the rave reviews. Certainly some of the performances are incredible and the ability to book all of that talent was amazing.

Agreed, too much gospel, thought there would be more headliner performances. No Motown?

I went in with very low expectations and it was even worse than I imagined.

    Stevie and David Ruffin.

I also think that, while likely very socially significant, it wasn’t Woodstock. It was a series of 6 concerts on Sundays across the summer.
