Cat Person by Kristen Roupenian (and what it says about relationships)

Laura Miller just panned the hell out of it. And if you read the Slate review and question whether it’s a pan, trust me, it is.

 

And it's already optioned for an HBO series.

 

Cat Person? Or all the stories?

Not that HBO is the end all be all of creative thinking. This is the network that thought Bill Simmons had something useful to say on TV.

 

It's the whole book, except the one piece NOT included in the adaptation is...Cat Person.

So this one is using a pseudonym ... my gut tells me it's Roupenian trying to make the first piece believable. Dollars to doughnuts it is. Has the smell of a piece by Nell Stevens.

 

Did you read the article? She's a real person, and she spoke to Roupenian toward the end of it. Or are you just suspicious that the guy ever existed?

 

I can't trust anything once she says she's using a pen name just as I don't think the first piece is real.

 

She didn't use a pen name for herself - she used a pen name for him.
