I was in a PD series centered around being culturally competent and responsive in our classrooms. In a zoom of 200 of all races, the moderator wanted to hear our stories about experiencing race. Because of a technical problem with the size of the group , we couldn’t go to breakout rooms and lost a lot of time in the process. So he opened the floor for whomever felt comfortable sharing. The only two were 50s or 60s white women one of whom talked about being a minority in her school and how she didn’t see race. It got cringy real fast.

Inky, I finally broke down and did that with Greg Olear. I liked his writing and wished to see more of it.

His breakdown (by vote count) of the one-term president was the capper.

I don't know how sustainable Substack is, though. If it pays somebody's bills then more power.

This thread started with a dog on a leash And it read like it started 3 years ago. Nope, almost one year ago with a Karen and an employer.

Again, don't you ever get tired of yourself? Your blinding racism fills you with such hate that you can't see beyond your own shit. As I've said, it's not about giving up what you've earned, it's about allowing everyone else in. And yes, I'm willing to do that. You are not. Now stop.

I'm about to watch Dear White People. Should I expect to see a lot of this?

Later in that same virtual conference I talked about upthread, someone said they were afraid to ask stupid questions or things that might make it seem like she was leaning on BIPOCS to do all the teaching. The Prof gave her two very good tips.
1.) If you can, Google it.
2.) She'd rather be asked a stupid question than told what to think, feel, or say.

If I ever write a character-driven book, it will be about this woman. One of my favorite "Digging While Drunk" stories ended with her rifling dirt clods at deserving souls.

Someone’s comment about the beginning of the thread got me to leaf back through the opening pages. This comment from late May 2020 - nailed it.

Sacajawea, Lewis, and Clark statue comes down

This is bad. And done by very ignorant and misguided people. Now Lewis and Clark won’t be pushing independents over to the right, but if you dont think the Jefferson Memorial is in the cross hairs of a racial mob, you are not paying attention.and every white person, every non African American person has been privileged by racism and therefore is racist by implication.

rename Washington DC. Can’t have the Capitol of the USA named after a slaver. And all slavers were virulent racists. Everyone who benefited from slavery is a racist and deserves retribution. Farmers, manufacturers, shippers, utility companies, railroads and airlines. Hotels, apartment owners, real estate agents, newspapers. There’s not a facet of America that exists without racism and slavery.

Appreciate the hat tip, but that really didn't channel Nostradamus or anything. Virtually the same thing was posted by a dozen plus other people. That was just the first one you ran up on.

That’s what a racist would say.
