And then followed by doing a coffin drop off the turnbuckle through the coffin on the floor.

    That said, it looked painful.

I hope Allin is getting paid an awful lot of money for this, because he's going to be paying for it with his body much later in life.

it was stupid. “The business has changed, The old timers said this to Foley then the Hardys” blah blah blah.

if he was going to pop up and go home to win one minute later, he could’ve taken the razor edge off the top onto the mat, and we’d all be saying what a great match it was and how crazy the coffin spot was.

No one would be sitting around saying “jeez that needed a stairs bump”

Yeah, and as we see, Foley and the Hardys have dealt with considerable health problems, but at least Vince paid them a lot.

Every time I see or hear Foley, whether a TV interview clip or podcast, he seems to still be of sound mind, but I think at some point the effects of his career bumps are going to hit, and hit hard. Not looking forward to that. Also, he goes on those spoken-word show tours and you figure it's for a little extra money and to keep his name out there, but in the A&E Biography episode on him, he talked about having to do that because he wanted to keep his mind active and stave off those effects as long as he can.

Foley’s already had a hip replacement, and Matt Hardy recently said something about his pelvis and his back fusing together. But at least they made some good money (six figures, and maybe for Foley, seven figures a year).

I’m just wondering what Allin makes at AEW. Can’t be that much.

FWIW, I think Foley was "smart," in that his peak was from around 1988 to 2000, and he wasn't doing hardcore bumps the entire time. His work style was always, let's call it methodical, too, so I imagine some of the other acts of the time are far worse off.

He talked about that on Austin's show, about how he learned to wrestle a match without taking the big bumps and used psychology to still make it look good. He talked about how he Shawn Michaels once worked a series of house shows when Michaels' back was bothering him, so they just did a bunch of mat-based spots and maybe one or two bumps for the finish.
Foley has also talked often about how beat up he is nowadays, and how it was a calculated risk. He knew it was how he had to work to get over, so he gambled and won that he could do it until his body started to give out. From the sound of it, he doesn't have any regrets about it.

Darby getting pitched down the concrete stairs a few weeks ago was an ugly looking bit. Didn't look like there was a way to make that look worse than it was, no crash pad there.

I must say, the new set -- with the screen almost the width of the arena floor and the slick aisle way -- is pretty f'n sweet.
