HR Derby, not extra innings will decide Pioneer League games

 

Not that much different than the format used to decide the World Cup or other soccer tournaments in the event of a tie.

 

In fact, soccer haters going back to the 1970s broadly used to invoke the Home Run Derby as a comparison to other sports.

 

I think corner kicks would be more fun to determine tied soccer games.

 

Well, this was unexpected. I heard an Appy League team had cancelled a game this week over "personnel issues." I'd say threatening to kill everyone on the roster would be considered a good reason to fold the franchise.

I'm wondering why does USA Baseball have jurisdiction over this? Because they're amateur teams?

My guess is that paychecks may be bouncing.

 

But this is now a summer collegiate league. I guess maybe they can get some per diem, but most of these teams are within a 30-minute drive of one another.
