I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Chicago style -- mustard, onions, celery salt, tomato, pickle spear, sport peppers and that fluorescent pickle relish.
Kosher dogs are the way to go, BTW, if you want quality meat.

THIS. I will also sprinkle some sharp cheddar shreds in there, if available...

    Beer bath then grilled.

Bertman Original Ball Park Mustard and sauerkraut.

Stadium Mustard if Bertman is not available.

That's funny, some low sodium folks boil hot dogs to get the salt out. 7 minutes I think.

I've told this story before, but it's worth retelling.
My wife and I were in Chicago about 10 years ago and wanted a Chicago style dog, so we hit this place up the street from Wrigley Field before a Cubs game. There was a deli case full of condiments and we'd never had a proper Chicago style hot dog, so I asked the guy what all was supposed to go on it.
In a thick Mediterranean accent he replied, "They say you get the mustard, you get the onions, the relish, the celery salt. Fuck that. Get whatever. The fuck. You like."
Words to live by -- on a lot of things, and not just hot dogs.

Best part about a "Chicago style dog" is the hot dog itself ... a Vienna Beef hot dog. Whatever else they put on it is fine, as long as it's not ketchup.

That's for the french fries! :)
