    Coach Bud is Ned Yost.

And now they won’t be able to fire him for four years.

He's got nothing to prove on the NBA or international stage at this point. He has nothing to gain from going to Tokyo other than coronavirus (especially given his, um, uncertain, vaccination status). It especially wouldn't be a good look to go after spending most of the year complaining about the lack of off-season and how it comprised player health.

I really wouldn't mind if the NBA adopted the December to July schedule year permanently. Really helps bridge the gap to training camps opening.

He’s a 2 time gold medalist who didn’t play when he was 31 years old in 2016. Why would he play at 36 years old?

Have the NBA start on Christmas Day.
Have the NHL start with the winter classic on New Years Day.
Have MLB start on Mars because fuck them.

There's been speculation that he's going to play in the NBA until his son can go pro as well - At least, that's what Jalen Rose said a couple years ago, and he's friendly with a bunch of the Clutch clients. If that extends to the Olympic team, it would be fun to see a 39 year old LeBron at the 2024 Olympics, but I don't really know if his kid is legitimately that great of a prospect. (He's currently a four-star prospect, it looks like.)

I always thought tthat made sense from a television and marketing perspective. The NBA playoffs would be the leading national sports story in July. And the tradeoff would be giving up dates before Christmas when NCAA football and the NFL dominate.

I think that it’s hard to get the full schedule in that period of time. In addition, finals ratings in July just are going to be lower than in June.
