Adam Curtis’ “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” is dizzying, but is probably the best encapsulation of how we got to this point in history. I think he overstates his case in places, especially with his theory of Tupac, but he nails this empty feeling of living in the 21st century and how we got here.

    Goddamn this looks good.

Watched Tenet last night and I think I enjoyed it more than most. If you take the scientist’s advice not to think about it too much, it’s pretty good. It was fun to see Nolan play around with time and running scenes forward and backward.

Also, In the Heights was spectacular. Absolutely loved it. Miranda is simply a great lyricist.

The casting looks perfect, except for… Paul. Too sterile.

Apparently that actor (I know him from 'Ladybird') is quite hot stuff among the teenage/young women.

Whatever. This looks much more promising than the 1980s version. I'll go back to the theaters for this one.

“Old”’ nice to get back to the theater.

Some good themes; not a bad story. Just not fantastic. But he did a very nice job of getting one to think about aging.

I know there might be a few people out there who remember the Sgt. Pepper movie the BeeGees did back in the day. Yes, it was horrible. But the masterpiece was the "all-star" chorus that reprises the title song at the end. It's like a bizarre Love Boat episode. George Benson? Heart? Connie Stevens? Sha Na Na? Hank Williams Jr?!!!! And then Tina Turner standing next to Carol Channing. It's just too weird for words. I have to think copious amounts of free coke was involved to attract that group.

Stillwater; well presented, some really enjoyable performances; not a fan of the story.

Saw two Francis Ford Coppola films, neither of which I'll ever watch again but glad that I did.

The first is The Rain People, which he wrote and directed in 1969. A young woman from New York on the run from a dying marriage meets up with a mentally handicapped man (played by James Caen.) A well-shot, quiet little road film with some genuine twists and turns. Good peformances all around, with Robert Duvall coming in out at the end as a highway patrolman.

The second is One From the Heart, the semi-musical from 1982 set in Las Vegas. Much more of a conversation piece than a movie. Coppola went broke filiming it and you can see why. Large, large portions of the city are recreated completely on sound stages.

George Lucas had some part in the making of The Rain People. He might have been cinematographer. He also directed a “making of” documentary about it.

If you ever get a chance watch his first movie You're a Big Boy Now. You'll never forget it. One if my 5 favorite movies with a great cast, story set in NYC, and all-time soundtrack.
