Just a reminder that, even if they did nothing but run ads, NBC will never make back the money it paid for broadcast rights.

That's all they're doing is running ads. And if it's money-losing, then why have them through, what, 2028? They're making money via all the Peacock subscriptions, etc.

The three most spoken words have been "When we return."

It's a deal that they'll have to eat until then.

See also: NASCAR's broadcast partners. You think they're making back the money they paid the Frances anytime soon? No. And if NASCAR doesn't figure out things before the end of its TV deal, that sound you'll hear is the toilet flushing.

Pop’s the guy who said this after the game:

“I don’t understand the word surprise. That sort of disses the French team, so to speak, as if we are supposed to beat them by 30 or something. That’s a hell of a team. They have NBA players, other talented players playing in Europe who’ve been together for a long time. I think it’s a little bit of hubris if you think the Americans are supposed to just roll out the ball and win.”

I appreciate that he likes wine, has an occasional tender side and loathes Trump. Good qualities to have.

Nevertheless he peers out at the world and sees perpetual inferiority beneath his personal responsibility to address. And he’s been a complete flop so far.

Yeah, the podium at the Olympics was similar to the Tour, but ask any of them to choose one - Yellow Jersey or Gold Medal - and see what they say.

    Does anyone have to ask?

And again I can accept Pop has sainthood status among progressives for his take on Trump. He hasn’t won a damn thing since Duncan left.

    I wouldn't because I know the answer.

Olympic rugby is Sevens and I would argue that it is the peak of that sport.

Also it hasn't been called Tri-Nations in almost ten years since Argentina joined.
