    At this point, it's background noise. I've been bitching about NBC for 30 years. I found the exact times these races are going off and plan accordingly.

    More importantly, why do we need to ask? Yeah, in some sports, the Olympics aren't the pinnacle of the sport. So what?

    Basketball debuted as an exhibition in 1904. It became a full event in the 1936 games. Just because the NBA has eclipsed it, we shouldn't throw away that history. Should we?

    If Michael Phelps jumped into a pool right now, beard and all, what kind of time could he put up?

    Totally unserious question I posed in reply:

    Can you imagine the crowd pop from Rowdy Gaines alone if he staged like a run-in before the 400 free relay? And if so, what would his entrance music be?
