And Brady Aiken. Didn’t work out well for him.

Left work last night just before 11, flipped to the game on my car radio and heard the grand slam ("get out the rye bread and mustard!"), then heard Crawford get beaned immediately afterward.

    Stay classy, Astros.

Trea Turner out of the ballgame.

EDIT: Positive COVID test, not a trade.

Not exactly shocking. Played golf with Trump. Played college ball in a program to be known for its disproportionate refusal to get vaccinated.

So the Washington Baseball Team announces that Trey Turner has tested positive for COVID.
Yet other teams are citing team policies in not disclosing the reason players are placed on the COVID IL.
Anybody know why there are inconsistencies?

Hopefully the Mariners won't make any more moves to purportedly strengthen the team for the stretch run.

Individual franchises set their own policies, evidently.

The GM said something that I found fascinating. He admitted that this trade, in and of itself, makes no sense. He added that its wisdom will become apparent when we see what else they do.
That may be a reference to letting Seager go as a FA. Toro would be Seager's replacement.
But it may also refer to other moves this week.

Hopefully it involves getting somebody other than Joe Smith to be the closer. Good guy, but certainly on the downside of his career. And as awful as Seager has been, he is somewhat productive and is an excellent fielder. But the M's can't give him anything more than a 2-year deal if they keep him.

Kendall Graveman is a fungible reliever. They just traded him for Seaver’s probably long-term replacement. That’s a trade you run to the phone to make.

I hope they find a better long-term solution than Toro and his .193 career average and .626 career OPS. Maybe he just needs to play consistently, but you don't play consistently with anemic numbers like that. I guess time will tell.

I think it has to do with the fact he was removed the game for a positive test?
