    If I recall correctly, the qualifying process depended heavily on a bunch of qualifying events, most of which were held in Europe. The alternative option was to go high-stakes and win the big qualifier, and I think I read somewhere that Hummel went like 3-for-25 from the field in the elimination game.

    Catching up with this thread ....

    The "twisties" post is the best explanation I've seen, so fuck the naysayers.
    Before I read it, I thought "twisties" were a form of pasta, like "tubes" or "angel hair." Also, a donut.

    If an NBA player puts a foot wrong by an inch, perhaps he steps out of bounds. It's possible that what would have been a three pointer becomes a two and he loses a big game. If a gymnast lands an inch off while doing a double somersault on the balance beam she could take a horrific injury.
