My daughter was All-County FH for 2 years, and I’m not quite sure of the rules either.

In my freshman year, I was told that a guy in my dorm played for Hamiltonian field hockey team. As a small town kid from Canada's frozen wasteland, I had no clue that it was played by men.

I know that you have to be a right hand shot, or at least flip a right handed stick over. Somehow this relates to safety and sticks not getting high, but it just sounds like English fussing to me.

My daughter was repeatedly asked to play goalie for her school team (hockey goalie, softball catcher) but she had a full dance card and zero interest whatsoever.

Virginia girls HS field hockey is quite good, and Fredericksburg is the second-best region for it in the state (behind Virginia Beach).

As it turns out: I was our leading HS field hockey guy for like 10 years. When it's played well, and on turf, it's a fine sport (especially now that they use rolling restarts on a whistle).

But any time there's marginal teams involved - with the associated low-level game officials - it gets pretty rough, with arbitrary whistles interrupting the flow of the play and weird bounces (as opposed to stick-to-stick control) dictating the game.

Maybe your friend has a point and maybe he does not. What is your friend's source?

We have a guy who emails our newsroom insisting that Joe Biden is a clone and you can tell because his earlobes are always changing.

Does he have a point? Is Joe Biden a lobe-shifting clone?

"In my eyes, she's a quitter," he said. He's a boxing coach.

Don’t blame me. I voted for Kodos.

I have yet to see a high-level gymnast condemn or even question Biles' decision. To a woman, they have all shared their own experience with the twisties and said Biles made the right call.
