I could see the SEC Network adding a permanent Thursday night spot where perpetual weak sisters like Vandy and Arkansas will be “convinced” to move home games to relieve Saturday congestion.

ABC used to run OU-Texas at 11 a.m. CDT from time to time, as well. Made zero sense from a comfort perspective.

Not sure if it's something with the fair or what, but they've played it as an afternoon game since at least 1950. The kickoff time has floated around a bit, from 11 a.m. to noon, to as late as 3 p.m., but it has always been a day game.

They don't do it at night because having people drinking all day then going to a heated college football game is a bad idea.

Don Shula used that as a home-field advantage for years. The Dolphins loved 1 p.m. starts in the Orange Bowl because they were accustomed to playing in the south Florida heat. They wore white and forced the opposition to wear dark colors. Particularly when the field was Astroturf, it was hotter than the gates of hell there.

Fox will order some of those teams to build domed stadiums.
OU-Texas will always be in Cowboy stadium anyway

Ohio State-Michigan has been noon EDT for decades. Hell, it's still unsettling to see UCLA-USC played at night. Should be at 12:30 p.m. PST.

Because it conflicts with the concert schedule.

    All hail Big Tex.

What other rivalry games are entrenched in certain time slots?
Georgia-Florida at 2:30 comes to mind.
Auburn-Alabama is usually the 2:30 CBS game, but it's bounced around on occasion.
