Slate suspended and seemingly has cancelled The Gist, which was a daily must listen for me. It’s all very meta and Slate has not issued any statement since February. Mike Pesca was in some sort of an internal controversy about whether he could use the n-word when discussing The NY Times science reporter who was apparently forced to resign for repeating said word.

My favorite recent find: The Anthropocene Reviewed, by author John Green:
The Anthropocene Reviewed : Episodes | WNYC Studios | Podcasts

He reviews facets of the human-centered planet on a five star scale. He's done everything from Mario Kart to plague. He's also releasing a non-fiction book in May where he writes essays on the same vein.

Wisconsin Public Radio has read books over the air in half-hour excerpts since 1931, making it possibly the longest-running radio program in existence. The shows are accessible on the WPR website.

Longest in the US is “Music and the Spoken Word,” dating back to 1929. Mormons never sleep, yo.

EDIT: Longest running network program. The Grand Ole Opry dates back further but is only on WSM on the radio side.

I stand corrected! Ninety years is still a pretty good run, tho.

The Larry Wilmore podcast made a 10 hour drive pass quickly.

"Broken Record" which has interviews with interesting musicians where I've learned very interesting tidbits about them; this week is Daryl Hall, some good ones before that I enjoyed were Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick); Barry Gibb.

This is my new favorite. I've been devouring these of late. I've also bought the book which is really just the podcast in written form as far as I can tell. Green also has a YouTube channel with his brother Henry, also an author, called vlogbrothers.

They both are also published authors. Vlogbrothers has been going quite awhile, and spun off into other channels like Crash Course, a few gaming channels, etc. Hank also has a production company that did The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, an excellent web series modern adaptation of Pride & Prejudice.

The Brockmire Podcast - extremely off color, but hilarious to me. If you saw and liked the TV series, the podcast is more of the same.
