    Or not! Oh Mets.

If I were a Mets fan, I think I'd be pissed that they didn't come to an agreement rather than that they picked him.
So he needs TJ? Big deal. Who doesn't?

As for Rocker, you've got to feel bad for him. Even if he comes back to Vandy and proves he's heathy, his value will fall. He officially has two years of college eligibility left, but I still doubt he'll command the $6 million to which the sides had originally agreed.

I don’t like that teams get a replacement pick in the next year’s draft when they don’t sign their pick. You didn’t do your due diligence or were too cheap to sign the player you drafted, tough shit.

To be fair, who could have known a college kid ridden hard by his coach and represented by Scott Boras might have issues and be a tough sign?

I know this year was a pretty strong class. I imagine if it’s not next year, Rocker goes like top six and gets more

The Rocker stories have referenced a voluntary program in which the top 50 pitching prospects have "the opportunity" to share their health histories with all 30 teams. Would love to know how many of these players take this alleged opportunity.
I'm going to guess that even many healthy ones abstain out of a sense of loyalty to their fellow players.

You knew several teams at the top of the draft were going to pass on Rocker because of mutual distrust with Boras. Pirates, Orioles, Royals come to mind. Then you saw the Mets on the board. If the Mets had passed, would the Washington Baseball Team have taken him at 11? I don't know. But it does make you wonder how far he might have tumbled if health rumblings were rampant.
    12. Mariners: No
    13. Phillies: Maybe
    14. Giants: Maybe
    15. Brewers: No.
    16. Marlins: No

Then again, these are the Mets we're talking about. I think ESPN reported that a third-party, independent doctor didn't see issues.

And now there's this question: Is there any scholarship money left at Vanderbilt for Rocker?
You couldn't blame a coach for assigning the cash elsewhere on the presumption that there's no way he'd have Rocker back again. But I don't know how theses things work or if even if there's a deadline at this point. Curious.

He won't go back to Vandy, because he'll be able to control his usage going to some independent league team

So do the Mets get to roll the unspent draft pool money into next year too, or do they have to pay an extra draft pick out of the same pot as usual?

So, he cost himself a contract and a scholarship?

OK, that makes sense, kind of, but there's a lot more twisting and turning at second than in right field.

They will have a different pool total to spend, based on where their picks fall. The allocated money from this draft just disappears
