Wonder if he has been vaccinated. Most of NYY's positive cases -- almost all, in fact -- have been breakthrough cases.

This week is not going well for MLB HQ.

Pitcher of record when the team takes the lead is the winner. Guy who pitched the bottom of the 10th gets the save. Garcia pitched the bottom of the 9th.

EDIT: he pitched 9 and 10. Sorry I was following on Gamecast and assumed they brought in a new guy for the 10th. Giants didn’t.

Looks like ESPN fixed the box score to reflect what happened.

I noticed that too this morning. I was totally puzzled last night. In the original box Jackson was the starter and Garcia followed him.

In his defense you have to be glad you're not paying McCutcheon something around $30M/yr on a long term deal.

Yeah, I'll believe it when he keeps his promises to Detroit for that proposed $2.1 billion sports and entertainment district surrounding Little Caesar's Arena, which was paid for by PUBLIC money -- never mind how much dough the pizza billionaire makes every day.

Plus, Al Avila is still in charge of a three-year plan that's now on its seventh year. They have zero prospects at 2B and SS, a Rule 5 kid in CF, a Cleveland castoff at C/LF, and whatever's left of Miguel Cabrera. Schoop and Grossman are playing over their heads. Greene, Torkleson and Dingler are at least another full year away.

As far as pitching, Mize and Skubal appear to be the real deal, Manning needs more seasoning and Turnbull's out until 2023. But any of those guys could get hurt and delay the whole thing. Fulmer, Soto and Cisnero could be the core of a good bullpen but they're at least three more arms short.

So every thing has to go perfectly for the window to open by 2023. And don't forget, the White Sox and Astros are already there, the Red Sox and Yankees can outspend them, the Angels have Trout and Ohtani, and the Blue Jays, Royals and A's have more organizational depth.

    I'm not holding my breath.
