I will say this - those who don't tend to spend much time in a church or aren't active in a faith probably SHOULD have a negative impression of Christianity if all they see of it is what they see on TV. The televangelists, the politics, violence. The people blaming various calamities on the "godless" ways of the affected communities. I'm not arguing that news coverage is biased at all - but I'm a firm believer that a lot of what passes for Christianity today is a joke. There is a quiet part, where people feed the hungry, help shelter the unhoused, provide comfort to the distressed.

Not my call to make. After all, the Sangerians will still have their trinity -- rape, incest and the "health" of the mother. But the good news, for you, is that there is a way to reduce that terribly burdensome tax bill I'm sure you face year in and year out. Just up those donations!

Well, except in multiple Confederate states, where 12-year old girls impregnated by their fathers are just shit out of luck now.

What are some examples of partisan placement that aren’t true?

On which issues of today would Jesus align with Trumpists?

They both think that they are the son of God?

(And Trump is hoping for a hostile takeover)

Jesus wouldn’t “align” with them on anything. Jesus is Jesus. Render unto, etc, etc.

But I get the question. That’s how we do it now. We’re talking about a deity (or a concocted deity, in the minds of some) and whether he’d have a political alignment. It’s a very human perspective.

I only asked because you seemed agitated that a commentator has suggested that Jesus would be a Democrat.

I'm not sure that's what that commentator suggested. Nevertheless, even stipulating that he did ... Arguing which modern-day political "side" Jesus would be on seems a pretty dicey proposition. Jesus was (is) ... something else.

I'm not agitated. I'm not sure the commentator said that, either. What I think he did do was highlight the parts of Jesus he likes, in part because he's a political creature before he's a Christian, instead of the other way around.

Plenty of Republicans are like this, too.
