Over on the Olympic Channel, wrestling is on. The announcers sound like a crew from a high school football game.

    Another amazing 400 hurdles race.

Great stat -- in both the men's and women's race the top three finishers all had times that ranked among the top four in history.

I'm going to assume you haven't followed this too closely. Biles kept posting videos of her practices, and then deleting, showing her inability to land anything that required a twist, such as dismounting the bars, any vault and most floor tumbling passes. She didn't have to twist on the beam. They talked at length about her beam dismount and how she removed the twists and did a tumble that she could control by grabbing her legs to make sure she didn't twist.

She didn't.. 'come back.' She never withdrew from the beam. She kept practicing and figuring out what she could do and a beam routine was doable. That's why she withdrew gradually from each individual event rather than just dropping out of all of them at the same time.

I thought that Tim Daggett said the exact opposite - that the twisties happen the least on the balance beam.

Nelly Korda's caddie suffered heatstroke during today's round. It was in the 90s with heat index about 105. Players were wearing ice jackets and using umbrellas between shots.

Yes I enjoyed the women’s race just as much as the men’s race and was again blown away by the WR. Great to see the top 2 both beat the old one. McLaughlin was soooo smooth in her strides. Thing of beauty.
