She's phenomenal. BTW, Femke Bol was a lot closer to McLaughlin and Muhammad than I thought she'd be. That was a hell of a run by her, too.

She finished .05 behind Silver, the race for silver was closer than the race for gold.

Has anyone seen Men’s Field Hockey? The US is the worst team and has always been. But it would be cool to watch. And the US Women didn’t qualify, but still, more than a couple seconds of highlights would be nice without having to pay for a streaming service.

I think USA had it on last week. I watched a little bit of it. I find it to be an odd sport, hard to follow because I know nothing about it, and the blue turf is just nauseating. But as I watch it I can't help but think well I know the sticks are supposed to be shorter, but players are taller now than they were when the game was invented so shouldn't the sticks be proportionately longer?

This is a cool streak. I'm guessing many medals come in swimming and track, so I wonder if Stanford, Cal, Texas and some other schools have similar streaks.

That's impressive. Only the Ivies might come close to that.

I watched about five minutes of a game between Australia and... Denmark, maybe? The Netherlands? Not sure. Anyway, it was 0-0 pretty deep into the game and it looked very awkward watching the guys have to bend over to play the ball, so I got bored and moved on to something else.

The first day I ventured into the Daily Trojan office at USC in 1972, I saw Randy Williams (Munich long jump gold) sitting at a table talking to a couple of reporters.

    Wow, this stuff happens here.

John Naber, who was dominating swimming on the way to Montreal '76, used the Daily Trojan as a lab for one class. We sent him on dinner runs for us since he had a meal card. When we watched him in Montreal, I used to say, hey, that's the guy who brought us food in college.

My son went to Cal and randomly had a 2016 gold medal swimmer in one of his study groups. I can't recall her name, but the wife and I were more impressed than he was.
