And charges of domestic abuse from his ex-wife.

Probably hurts his HOF chances with the veteran's Committee.

 

The way he was trending before the first allegations, it will keep him out by the writers. Otherwise he was on his way to induction in about 2024

 

Man, Vizquel is a mess. I remember when the most scandalous thing about him was Jose Mesa wanting to kill him b/c Vizquel blamed him for blowing the '97 World Series. His awfulness off the field is going to make it a moot point, but I was stunned at how he was trending upward pre-scandals. He seemed to be a guy whose candidacy would suffer with the five-year waiting period and the infusion of younger voters less married to the eye test. But he was on the fast track despite the advanced metrics and the rear-view mirror (he placed in the MVP voting ONCE in 24 seasons) being really unkind to him.

This is kind of amazing. NYY have been Team COVID. Especially this month. Yet they keep winning. Infuriating for so many reasons.

More than Scherzer, it might be Turner (the new guy) who puts the Dodgers over when it matters.

 

That's some serious speed. He found the ball off the bat and knew he wouldn't have to slide. Then he recognized that the deflection was going to make it tough for the left fielder to get to the ball in time.
