    And the way the Giants stole two games from the Brewers this weekend, surprised the local gendarmes weren't in pursuit of the bus on the way to the airport.

    Saturday, right fielder misjudged a fly ball against the fence with two out in the ninth to tie the score. Giants score four in the 10th only to have Milwaukee tie it. So the Giants score three in the 11th for the win.

    Sunday, Brewers baserunner doubled off second after failing to retag second going to first after a fly ball to left.

    Call me a fanboi, but hard to see anything derailing the Giants this season. 71 wins now for a club projected to win 77 this year.

    Giants have had a knack for epic comebacks. The late rallies against the Dodgers to build the division lead, then coming back from a four-run deficit against the D-Backs in the 9th which included being down to their last strike. The last month of the season is going to be fun.

    Has ABC shown an MLB game since the storied days of The Baseball Network?

    "just the punter to beat" is one of the great specific descriptions in all of sports.

    What's the equivalent line in basketball, baseball, hockey?

    * basketball maybe is "it'll count if it goes ... "
    * hockey maybe is ... I don't know what hockey's is.
    * baseball is ... have to think on this one.

    Great pull to bring in Uncle Al tonight.

    Al did a couple of Howard imitations for the late, great Jim Healy.

    Jim Healy you have a horses*** .... attitude.

    Centerfield camera shots were definitely used in the early/mid 60s; the announcers constantly harped that we shouldn't think anybody could call balls and strikes off the teevee screen because "lenses distort everything."

    @Songbird and @MileHigh, you made my night with those videos.

    Well, at least in the non-wife part of the evening.

    Just before this play, Turner had already past second base when Brandon Marsh caught a ball against the center field fence. He had to retouch second and get back to first and barely beat the throw. Anybody else would have been out if they had ventured that far. And on the next play, well, check the video.

    *Baseball ... "Swing and a long drive, deep center field ... but it is going to be caught on the warning track for the final out."

    Great play by the ballboy in that clip, BTW. If that guy is old enough, the security guys ought to pay for his beers all night long. Or he'll be fired by the Dodgers first thing tomorrow for creating an unnecessary liability that could have caused a lawsuit when the runner went ass over teakettle over the wall.
