How long has this crap been going on in downtown Portland now, a year and a half? Two? Three?

The free market does not seem very good at law enforcement and keeping the peace. Of course, neither do the Portland police. I wonder why that is?

He signed a bill that he thought was a dumb idea in a crisis simply because he thought the crisis was over and the bill was therefore irrelevant. I assume he did so to remain popular in the state. This was a political calculation gone wrong so the apology, while always welcome, doesn’t carry much weight.
