I see what you did there. :)

Can we have him bury Sam Raimi out there with her? Bastard mangled the story from one of my favorite books, dammit!

I'm going to be the wet blanket: it was a typical Major League Baseball game for this past half-decade or so: 89 combined plate appearances and the ball was not put into play on 47 percent of them, with eight homers, 11 walks and 23 strikeouts. Almost half the hits (8 of 17) were homers. The ninth inning was compelling, I'll grant you.

Would have been nice to see some baserunning, doubles in the gap and a play or two at the plate.

You're not wrong. When that No. 9 hitter on the Yankees bunted for a base hit, then stole second base, I wondered if they really had turned back the clock.

For the record, he did not score.

MLB got everything it could possibly dream of with that game.

I was expecting it to be pretty eye-rolling and cringy. (And I love the movie).

The visuals were stunning and the game was exciting.

Now get a new CBA done and don’t punch yourselves in the dicks with a work stoppage.

You know it’s a tough crowd when they don’t count homers as balls in play and a game with five lead changes, 12 RBIs with 2 outs, at least one runner in every inning except one, a four-run comeback in the top of the ninth and a walkoff homer in the bottom of the ninth is casually dismissed as “typical.”

    Yeesh. Wet blanket, indeed.

It is kind of telling that MLB went all out to celebrate a 30-year old movie. It's still a great game, but seems to target the 40 and up crowd more than anything.

I was listening to Yankee radio and Sterling and Waldman were talking about how some youth players got to play on the field from the movie and they were rhapsodizing about how meaningful it was for them. My thought was it doesn’t mean shit to the kids because they have no clue about the movie.

Kids now have seen more old movies than I ever had at that age. I had to schlep it to the movie rental place and plunk down $2.99. Now it is a push of a button and a Hey Siri or Alexa away.
