That statement was sent at 4 Saturday. The game’s changed a little bit since then.

Neither president should've publicly announced a deadline for withdrawal. (The units in country would've known months in advance, of course.)

The Taliban had a saying: "You have the watches. But we have the time."

Nobody was holding a gun to Biden's head to withdraw by the 20th anniversary of 9/11. It was a whiz-bang deadline that he achieved early (by coercion). The better denoeument was to slink out in the dead of Afghan winter while no fighting was possible.

I believe I brought us to the real pressing issue of our time: Aldi cheese — you in or out?

Few Americans can locate Afghanistan on a map (if not for Risk, that number would be even lower). Even fewer will be upset we have finally left there, hopefully once and for all and forever.

    Game. Set. Match.

Sit down, SPC, before you fall down.

Republicans are more upset about an attack on the Afghanistan capitol than they were the US capitol in January.

It occurs to me that the Taliban should let the US take all the time it wants to evacuate refugees from Kabul. Exiles are not a worry, while enemies in hiding sure could be.

PS: There are already Republican officeholders opposing allowing Afghan refugees to settle in the US. There's just so much more evil in this country than we are prepared to admit.
