Blox vs. NewsEngin. Anyone?

Just received word that our chain will be switching from Blox to NewsEngin sometime this fall. They're telling us that the two systems are largely similar. Anyone have experience with both? Thoughts?

I use Blox now and not a fan from the digital side of things. Especially after having come from using WordPress. Never have used NewsEngin.

Are you on blox for print, digital or both? We’re on blox for digital and moving over for print soon…..hows that? Is it a good system?

I used NewsEngin for about 5 years and hated it at first, but got used to it and it’s fine — if you paginate your own. If you don’t, it depends on whether your design center uses it too.

Both. I find it slow and cumbersome from a digital standpoint. No idea how it works for print.

We've used NewsEngin for close to a decade now for everything. Can't attest to similarity with Blox, but I like NewsEngin. I find it very intuitive and got the hang of it in days. A lot of coworkers do seem to struggle with it, for whatever that's worth.

It does look like something out of the 90's, though.

At a previous stop, I used Blox for web and NewsEngin for print. We had a remote design desk, but it was a small company so everyone was on the same software. I can't speak to how NewsEngin works for design, but for writing, editing and web they seemed to play fairly well together. We were using very old hardware, however, so the process was slow.

WordPress, to be kind, is a pile of crap.

Liked BLOX. It had some bugs, but I've dealt with much, much worse than BLOX.

I know zip about NewsEngin. Sorry to be of no help.

I don't mind Blox for what I need to do writing/editing-wise, so if NewsEngin is similar I won't be mad.

Our website is a total shitshow, but I'm pretty sure that's an unrelated issue.

Sounds fairly similar to my current situation — design center, small chain, everyone on the same shit. If it works fine for writing/editing, etc., that's enough for me. Design and the web are problems I'm not getting paid to solve.
