Admit, every time I saw Bryson today I shouted “DOUBLE BOGEY!!!” Never did that before for any player.

Between firing his caddie, his kerfluffle over his driver sponsorship and his flaunting of medical awareness, Mr. Physics has had himself an interesting summer.

If you told me now that he never attended a single class at SMU, I wouldn't bat an eyelash.

FanDuel signed Jordan Spieth to an endorsement deal, announced yesterday. Their first golfer. So FD offers a boost to even money for Spieth to shoot even or better in the first round today at Liberty National and -- shocking! -- he bogeys the last hole to shoot 1 over. Whatever FanDuel paid him, it probably got back with that. And gotta think Spieth heard about it from the Jersey crowd. Hooray, gambling!

(Also posted on gambling thread, too good not to share here)

Yeah, I took that boost. Didn't put much on it, but annoying nonetheless. He needed to go birdie-eagle on the back just to get into position to finish even for the day.

FanDuel tweeted that all bets will be refunded. The kinder, gentler bookmaker ... for now.

    Interesting. I'll take it.

It seems a lot of places do these "bad beat" refunds. From the site, looks like he three-putted the last hole. Not a good start to make the cut, especially starting off in the morning wave. But he should be clear to get to East Lake, which is all you want to do to get the big paycheck in the clownish way they close out the playoffs.

Was out at Birdwood in Charlottesville at our Senior Amateur final today, and Lauren Coughlin (LPGA player who went to UVA) was out with Soly from No Laying Up playing the course. Got a chance to meet and chat with both and they were super cool. I had talked to Lauren years ago when she was an amateur but I don't think either one of us actually remember the conversation. Ha. Definitely gives me a rooting interest in the next three LPGA events, since she needs to play well to move up in the next shuffle.

NY Post's Cannizzaro on caddie Kenny Harms' family tragedy. Why journos earn a bad name.

"The 55-year-old Harms, a native of Paramus, N.J., who has been on Na’s bag for 14 years, lost his brother Kurt last week. Kurt dropped dead suddenly while on a walk. Harms said they won’t know the cause of death until the autopsy results come back in six to 12 weeks.
