I’m sure Marcus Smith enjoyed having folks clean his property for free.

I just saw somewhere that there’s talk of a temporary short track inside the LA Coliseum. Is Brian France back in charge?

Are they going to have chariot races there?

Wow, if only someone in Winston-Salem would have thought of that.

Why? So Tennessee can play VaTech there?

An unsourced Adam Stern tweet over the weekend was the first I’ve heard of the NASCAR/Coliseum concept. The other thing he reported in that tweet is that NASCAR is talking with Gateway about a Cup date, which seems slightly but not much more likely than the Cup Series running the LA Coliseum.

How would that even work at the Coliseum? I know they have a running track there, but it doesn't look like there's nearly enough room to turn it into an auto track. It'd be a quarter-mile or maybe 3/8 miles at most, right? And how would they squeeze in all of the pits, garages, support facilities, etc.?

Support facilities would be on top of the football playing surface, obv. The track would be ridiculously small. Maybe they’d do it as a dirt track.

The only way the Coliseum worked as a racing facility was the Mickey Thompson series. Somebody needs to bring that back.

There hasn't been a running track in the Coliseum for years.

I think they were supposed to be able to convert to add a track if L.A. got the Olympics, which it did for 2028.

Yep, there was motocross and off-road there in the '80s, I remember trucks roaring through the peristyles and down a ramp to get to the fake hills on the field.

Now, it is kind of amazing that they have 2 or 3 motocross events at Angel Stadium in Jan./Feb. just a few weeks before baseball season starts. But the field always looks great on opening day.

Have fun with that, Nascar. And if someone in its offices thought that wasn't going to get out, that person didn't know that Bob Pockrass lives for court records.
