You are searching for things not to like.

I didn’t even notice the game. That was about Roy.

Finally getting around to The Queens Gambit. Yes, it is as good as advertised. Perhaps Netflix should invest in more "one and done" miniseries instead of greenlighting shows they end up cancelling after the second or third season.

Not really. Just not feeling it like S1.

    But I'll keep watching.

I just read the book. The author is the same author who wrote "Big Little Lies" but I just was flummoxed why they picked Nine Perfect Strangers out of the rest of her great books to make into a miniseries. It just doesn't feel like it would make compelling TV.

I'm watching the show. The cast is fantastic. It's obviously got a great budget. But the material is nowhere near as strong as BLL.

I watched all 4 episodes. I don’t really care what happens, but the cast and the scenery is compelling enough. Bobby Cannavale is really good.

Mr. Corman continues to be interesting.

At the behest of a colleague, I watched The OA. It was like an old SCTV sketch where someone wrote, produced, directed, and starred in their own Mary Sue dream project. Credit where credit is due to Brit Marling for getting things done, but in the last five minutes of the series when someone lifted an injured Prairie/Mina/ManaMana's head and shouted, "Brit!" all I could think was, "This is what so many people on the masthead were screaming over? Really, I'm good." I do hope this gets Phyllis Smith more work.

Watching The second season of the GBBS to air in the US, actually season 4, I think. The fifth season of The Great British Menu, and have also just finished Clarkson's Farm. As far as scripted TV goes, I have been keeping The Bob Newhart Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and Big Fat Quizzes on for background noise while I work.

The Brit competition shows are better because fewer people cry except GBBS Kathryn, who needed to be fed to a pack of hyenas. Clarkson's Farm was sweet. Seventies sitcoms are clever and written for adults. This is something that got lost sometime in the mid to late 80s. Big Fat Quizzes are pop cultural curiosities.

Jack Whitehall shares my loathing of costume characters. I feel this so, so much.

re: The OA, I kind of liked it because it was so batshit crazy. Like, I'm all for more passion projects like that, vs. something like Manifest (my wife binges it over the past two weeks; it's LOST but Christian-y) or Ordinary Joe (which wastes a Sliding Doors premise on what looks to be the most generic shit ever - will the white guy become a hero cop, a rock star or a teacher?!?).

By the way - It's been in development FOREVER, which normally isn't a great sign, but I liked the trailer for Y: The Last Man on Hulu / FX. The first few episodes of that will get a watch from me.

Didn’t realize that the actress who plays Mrs. Higgins on Ted Lasso is married in real life to the actor who plays Higgins.

Watched the first episode of "Cocaine Cowboys" on Netflix; not sure I need to see the rest (I cheated and Googled what happened to the dealers) but what I saw was pretty impressive -- including a sports connection I had never heard of.

"Only Murders in the Building" debuts on Hulu today - might already be available, not sure. Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez. Getting good reviews, and it's the rare trailer that after watching, both my wife and I were excited to see it, haha.
