Does anyone have any insight into how those BASW books performed? As in how many copies were sold every year?

Are 28 of the first 29 guest editors going to be men?

I lost enthusiasm for the series when my non-sportswriter wife made the honorable mention one year for a magazine feature while I never got a whiff in all my full-time sportswriting years. When this comes up at the dinner table I start throwing the vegetables.

BASW lost its luster when KVV's story on Adam Muema was left out. It was the best American sports story of 2014. It was so riveting. Ballsy reporting too.

Any 40,000-word stories on how a guy idolized Greg Maddux and said hi to him once?

  11. A little weird that almost none of the stories on that list are about either COVID or the social justice protests, easily the two biggest stories in the sports world in 2020.
