It doesn't. I have 61 students this semester. So far, 13 of them have tested positive. These are all high school seniors. Yesterday, I had 10 of 23 in one class absent. One girl, who was out yesterday getting tested, has previously told me she wants the vaccine, but her parents won't let her. I told her, "I can't tell you, but do a quick search on what the state law is about minors getting medical treatment without parent consent."

Crooked Media has a podcast on this, too. I haven't listened so I can't vouch for its quality.

Super happy to see that SCOTUS effectively overturned Roe v. Wade under the cover of darkness. That Texas law violates so many laws it makes my head spin.

At the same time making it harder to vote. The second-largest state is a totalitarian stronghold.

Texas truly does appear to be a good fit for the SEC afterall.

I just got a nice letter from the Georgia Republican Party today, asking me to make sure I'm legally registered to vote. Registration by MAIL with the handy application provided and already addressed to the Secretary of State.

Interesting take from a group trying to limit my rights as a Georgia citizen with mail-in ballots. But I'm guessing they've sent these only to the places where they think they can add "their" voters, since the flyer also includes this little tidbit: "The government makes decisions that impact your life and family, like how much you pay in taxes, whether or not WE FUND THE POLICE, and how our schools operate."

Seems like a clue as to how they campaign in two years.

Texas is two presidential election cycles - perhaps one - from being Georgia.

The GOP thinks it's going to win bigly in 2022.

I'm not so sure. The Afghanistan thing will pass and it's hard for Republicans to win that issue anyway.

It's still COVID. Beat that back by 2022, and the Democrats should be in decent shape.
