Belichick also would rather cut a player a year early. That, his numbers from last year, Cam’s mileage and injury history probably all played a part.

Let’s see if anyone else spends a roster spot on him.

Story says that Smoltz won't be allowed in the studio but will still call playoff games on-site in October. Huh?

In the Myrtle Beach area, the only area I can speak for, trump is still the president.

When WriteThinking writes that "Trump hasn't been in office for well over a year now," I'm trying to figure out what that means. I know I'm missing something and I'm sure I'll look ignorant asking, but what am I missing?

What we have seen in all pro-sports is that team will keep or sign a wife beater, a rapist, a drunk driver, a drug dealer, a racist and a homophobe, if they can help a team win.
If Cam could help win, he'd be on the team. Different teams may defining winning differently. Winning a single game, making the playoffs, making a run in the playoffs.
Is Cam Newton capable of beating the Giants or the Texans, sure. So is Mack Jones. He's not worth his contract. Its a cost benefits analysis, that all the NFL ever is.

Kaepernick is the only exception to this rule. and he's a marginal exception.

I don't think there is any doubt. That is one of many reasons distance learning is a problem. I imagine getting students back to proper classroom behavior is going to be a challenge.

I will shed no tears for people like that and maybe those deaths will wake some people up, but leading a post about someone dying that way was shitty.

It would be a great thing for these kids if they were not allowed to have their phones in class. Make little kindergarten cubbies for them to be put in on the way into class and taken out on the way. It would be a way to detox their brain. It would at least give them periods of their life where they are not receiving the drug.

I don't know if any entire schools do something like that, but I do know teachers who do it.

Newton would have been a good fit on Al Davis teams toward the end of Al's life.

Do they get much grief from the kids? or worse, the parents?

I haven't heard of parents giving teachers a hard time about that, but of course, students are going to complain.

Much of that was likely abandoned this past year. No way you could have people mixing their stuff together, then touching one another's things, at least not last fall. I know quite a few teachers who chose to put up with a lot of crap they would have never tolerated in the past due to COVID.
