I don't get how they can do what they do in Scottsdale or the Ryder Cup with the noise and movement, but anywhere else if someone sniffles during the swing it's an affront to the game and the fan should be put on the rack.

Gotta admit, I somewhat enjoyed not having fans at events last year.

GET IN THE HOLE and MASHED POTATOES are infinitely more annoying than "Brooksie".

I don’t watch golf and I know nothing about DeChambeau other than what I read here and a few other places. Is it just commonly accepted that he’s on the autism spectrum and no one mentions it? Because that would be how I’d bet the rent money.

Verily. More than one side can be the asshole in a story.

Steve Czaban has been saying that for a long time, and he has a child on the spectrum so it's not just radio guy b.s. When you look at all the quirks, I could see that.

I'd bet at least a third of them are. Think of the brain wiring it takes to be good at this game.

Because anyone can diagnose from afar? Czaban really should not do that, despite his experience.

I wouldn't call it a diagnosis, just an observation. He has said it more in passing than as something to carry an entire segment. But would you be surprised to see a connection revealed many years from now, like Billy Mayfair? Interesting reading about him.

There is an opinion that autism is the next phase of human evolution.

Bam Bam, with an odd mustache-scruff look, is off to a terrible start at East Lake. Brooksie, on the other hand, is -3 after 11 holes.

Wonder what today's excuse will be?

EDIT: Reverse psychology. Bam Bam gets back to even par with back-to-back birdies at 6 and 7.

IANAD but when you have a kid on the spectrum, you can make a pretty educated guess when someone else displays similar traits. And it isn’t a Get Out of Being a Decent Human Free card, but it does help explain and inspire a little more grace.

Probably got autism from his vaccination shots as a kid.
