That's one of the odd things about the recall, the Democrats are very organized in the GOTV and no on recall efforts, but the Republicans aren't backing any one candidate and are pratically invisible in traditional media.

The big problem the GOP has in California is they don't have someone like Schwarzenegger running - who was generally liked AND known by most people. Gray Davis for Schwarzenegger? Sure. It also says a lot about the California GOP that they don't have an office holder to carry the torch for them. Their electeds are pretty toxic statewide. The state would be better off having the recall happen and if the gov. is recalled, holding a second election six weeks later. The state does have a Lt. Gov. who can mind the store.

You laugh, but given the margin last year in Georgia for Warnock, having to run in an off-year, if Herschel can win the primary and the rest of the GOP stands behind him, he could win. But there is a non-Trumper running who is the current Ag Commissioner who has the backing of the state establishment.
