Then a lot happened. From Snell perfect game to 2-0 deficit after two walks and a base hit.

.... and Matt Vasgersian NOT watching the game on his monitor in Anaheim. He missed Mayfield stealing second on the previous pitch, then was astounded that he scored from first on a single to left. Uh, no he didn't.

Does anyone know why the Hall of Fame ceremony was on Wednesday afternoon?

This may be gossip, but a friend who knows a guy involved with the Hall said he was told that when it was decided to move the ceremony from a closed one at the museum in July to an open one outdoors in September, the Hall didn't want to take all the hotel rooms over a weekend during wedding season in Cooperstown. Basically being a good neighbor and not pissing off businesses in the village.

Is this the first ever 8-5 to end a game?

    I doubt it. Great throw.

    Technically it’s a 9-5 throw

Padres scored 8 in the second inning against three Angels pitchers, who walked 5 and hit 1. Angels used 7 pitchers in 8 innings.
The two worst words in baseball: Bullpen game

Cooperstown is very pretty but I would not have figured it for a destination wedding center. It's so far from everywhere.
