UCF has had its moments in basketball and a couple of other minor sports, at least. They had a nice NCAA Tournament run a few years ago.
I can't think of one non-football highlight for Boise.

UCF also has triple the enrollment of Boise State, and you can bet many of them will continue to follow ole almmy mater down through the years. That’s an underrated reason why they are in a relatively good position to drive future ratings.

It's funny to think that of the four newbies, two of them could end the year as the highest ranked "Big 12" team.

Central Florida has the largest total enrollment of any public school in the country: 71,193. Texas A&M, Ohio State and Florida International are the top four. UF is a paltry fifth at 52,218.

Any story that suggests that the PAC-12 would consider TCU is a story that does not deserve to be taken seriously on any level.

Agreed. Can't see why the Pac 12 would prefer 14 mouths to feed instead of 12 if the two newborns are TCU and Houston.

North Texas has a colossal alumni base too, and it's like pulling hen's teeth to get capacity 30K at a home game.

Central time zone. Newfound flexibility with TV time slots. Two big markets. Texas recruits. There are plenty of reasons.

I always thought Houston would be a likely Pac-12 target for those reasons, plus the academics wouldn’t be completely counted against them at Berkeley or Stanford. And think about Bill Walton calling the Big 12 the “truck stop conference.” If you’re in LA, you would much rather travel to DFW or Houston than Lubbock or Waco.

Also, I found this interesting the other day from KU’s new athletic director:
