I know a Black unvaccinated caregiver dead of the virus. Forty years old. Some comorbidity.

And my sister's youngest (second grader) now has it -- mostly headache, upper respiratory and fatigue, thankfully. That pretty much completes the entire bingo card for my relatives in southwest Missouri.

If that includes an all-expenses paid trip to Branson, I'll pass.

The $2.99 Sunday brunch at Starvin' Marvin's in the 1990s was the bomb.

Another piece of shit is dead. Hope his family suffers too. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...yGQOKDk1QKAnXTpwWY-UX2EM4e4clduPKUXt0Usmvjv3Q

For years, Bob Enyart used his conservative media platform in Denver to mock those who died of AIDS by name or call for women who receive abortions to face the death penalty. Recently, the radio talk-show host — who had successfully sued the state over mask mandates and capacity limits in Colorado churches last year — joined a chorus of conservative voices who have bashed the coronavirus vaccine and vowed to stay unvaccinated.

Trumpists are, like Elvis, everywhere. And they can disrupt life for every American no matter how receptive their state as a whole is to decency.
But let's not blame the refuseniks. Nope, can't do that. It's not a good look.
Neither am I full of charity for Republicans or smug-ass Libertarians who say they're vaccinated are and now ashamed of the klan for which they vote. (For every self-styled Libertarian who actually votes Libertarian, there are 10 who pull the lever for the GOP.) Their contempt of expertise, education and the fedruhl government, which took off 40 years ago, is blooming and manifesting itself in needless death. It is a new sort of fruit of the poisonous tree.

Mount Vernon. Closer to Springfield off I-44. Her practice is at the new Monett hospital, but she's hoping to open her own office somewhere in west Springfield by the end of the year, if she can get out of her Cox Health contract.

I keep hearing "we're heading for the next civil war." How? There's no 0bvious "friend or foe," let alone areas to secede, invade or defend. An armed Republican invasion force would have to be multiple times larger and better prepared than the 1/6 insurrectionists (or the clown show at the state capitol in Lansing), not to say that can't be done with a command structure, communications and strategy. But any state's National Guard would wipe the floor with that motley group in an hour, if given the permission to open fire.

If there is a conflict, I believe it will be an "uncivil" one, in which society breaks down because of mistrust, misinformation or mismanagement, not through any kind of physical violence. Splitting the country into "us vs. them" is already an acceptable strategy.
