93 Giants won 103 games and couldn’t even win their division in the last real pennant race. They should name the wild card after Salomon Torres.

Tremendous reference. Poor guy actually came back a bunch of years later and was a pretty good late-inning reliever for the Pirates.

That was my only time in Dodger fandom when they knocked out the Giants on the last day. Still didn't make up for the fat tube of goo Terry Forster giving up a home run to Joe Morgan in 1982 to eliminate LA one day after they eliminated SF. The Braves won the division in both seasons.

That weekend in '93 was so thrilling. That Friday night, Barry Bonds had one of the greatest hitting games in a high pressure game I've ever seen. He went 3 for 3 with 7 RBIs in an absolute must win game. (And he was thin then!!)

This 30 For 30 on the 1986 Mets is pretty good so far.

Jim's probably not a HOFer, but to be fair, 2014 was slapdick Brad Ausmus, who got multiple managerial chances because I guess he went to Dartmouth and looked the part?

Leyland is going to make it -- he's in that queue of next managers along with Piniella and Bochy, who will go right in when he becomes eligible.

he's 18th in wins with only Bochy, Baker, Mauch, Piniella and Francona (who is going to get in when he's eligible) not in. The closest active guys to him are 400 wins behind, so he's locked into that spot for awhile.

he has 3 pennants - every manager with three pennants who has won a title is in except for Francona, Bochy, Dave Roberts, Houk, Charlie Grimm and Jim Mutrie

he's been manager of the year three times and that helps

Yeah. The years have not been kind to Gooden and Dykstra.

And despite all that, he won 41 more games than he lost.

Looks like Pearlman was on it. Was he any good?

    Cocaine is a helluva drug.

    Dykstra was a train wreck.
