To be clear: If Biden wants open borders, hey, go for it. Just tell us that. The Biden policy right now is somewhere along the lines of “uh, yeah, well, we’ll take some back, and keep some and, uh, wow there’s a lot of people near that overpass huh?”

 

There is no shortage of those. Neither side has made a legitimate attempt to produce legislation, not in a serious and prolonged way. The R's have certainly played Culture Wars with it plenty over the last twenty years.

Draft a comprehensive foreign worker policy that lets people cross the border legally to work and send remittances to famiy at home. If Mexican/Central American families are like me,they'd rather not uproot themselves and move to a foreign land with a foreign language to work for under-the-table wages.

Establish civil order in the Northern Triangle, by diplomacy and economic support if possible and by military force if necessary. If we're going to nation-build, let's do it on our doorstep where failed states are a legitimate threat rather than on the other side of the world. We haven't hesitated to invade before, or use the CIA to prop up generalissimos like Rios-Montt and Duarte.
