    Damn.

I'm the healthiest person on this board. I got no stories beyond a couple of stitches when a piece of tile cut my lip.

We're starting to see a covid surge in southern Wis. One of the local hospitals has shut down urgent care and moved its staff to the ER. Police in Fond du Lac are treating a 26-year-old cop's death as in the line of duty. Fond du Lac officer dies of COVID-19 in line of duty at age 26

Mask back on! And booster ASAP in October.

Ouch. I've got surgery to repair a hernia in my near future, so that made me cringe.

I had reconstructive surgery on my foot about four years ago. That was outpatient at a surgical center. They actually gave me a choice of the surgical center or the hospital, but that was an easy call, because the former brings less of a risk of picking up some sort of infection.

The fun part of that was that they only gave me a mild sedative and a nerve block that made it so I couldn't feel anything below my knee for nearly two days. The bad part of that is they didn't know I move a lot in my sleep. Apparently, with my foot cut open, I kicked out and brushed it against the curtain. Then I woke up with a half hour left in the procedure. I was pretty loopy, so I kept asking if I could sit up and watch. I think the anesthesiologist was about ready try knocking me out with a blunt object by the end of the procedure. :)

I really loved that nerve block. Then it wore off. That was my Ho. Lee. Fuck. moment.

That's why the surgeon ruled out laparoscopic for me -- he said the hernias were too big.

After the surgery they implanted some tubing connected to bottles of novocain or some similar topical painkiller. The rig had little squeeze bladders I could press to shoot painkiller into the surgical site. They came with a waist belt so I could wear the bottles with one on each hip like a pair of Colts.

Looking forward to all the men and women who will run into burning towers say they are afraid of a pin prick.

I had a septoplasty and a tonsillectomy a couple years ago. It was the first time I was under the knife. It ended up being an overnight stay because of a complication. Everyone told me how horrible it'd be. It was fine. I stayed on top of my drugs like clockwork and never was in super bad pain.

I recently had an appointment at a provider I haven't been to in at least 30 years. Amazingly they still had all the personal info in their system, which has probably changed three times since then.

They had my childhood address, phone number, even religion — somehow back then I was a rastafarian and I didn't know it.

Gotta go in for a (knock on wood) minor outpatient procedure in a couple weeks. The place will probably be swimming in COVID so I hope they can get me in and out.

TV station at home is owned by Gray which has a vaccine mandate effective Oct. 1. Because of it, they've lost their lead weatherman of 30+ years and their lead female anchor. Weather guy was probably within a year or retirement anyway, and the lead female anchor appears to be using the mandate to get out of her contract because the station brushed off some rather disgusting sexual harassment against her from a co-worker. I knew the anchor when she was a bureau reporter and am sad to see her toss her career away over a shot (and even more unhappy to hear how she was treated), but weather guy can go pound sand. He's also a climate change skeptic, if not an outright denier. Gray also owns stations in my present market.

The Fox outlet here is owned by Sinclair. If there's propaganda to push, they do an excellent job of layering it onto whatever they can.
