Yup, it’s the liberal media’s fault that the vast majority of the GOP believes that the presidential election was illegitimate.

Because these are the people who are circling back around to take another shot at overthrowing representative democracy and installing your christofascist dream state.

Yeah, uh, no. I've written consistently, for years, that I have no interest in a coupling of faith and government. It's hurt Christianity. It's hurt government.

In 2013, around the Tebow phenomenon:

But the larger evangelical movement around him has been, at least in recent decades, unsatisfied with mere service and testimony by doing. Serve at the mission? Nah. They want to run the mission. Reflect Christ in the public schools? Nah. They want to rewrite bylaws to favor the Christian worldview. They want transformational change, and latched onto America's largest institutions - one of which is football -- to accomplish that. So, to some extent, Tebow's been grafted in by conservative Christian leaders who want him to be a face for whatever their pet vision is.

Do I agree with some of those pet visions? Sure. But I don't let my agreement get in the way of seeing the methodology at hand.

In 2013, related to North Carolina trying to create a state religion:

Christians should be opposed to state religions. It does them no favors, such a designation.

In 2o21, I agreed with your post about American Christianity getting in bed with power brokers:

I agree with this. Nothing has damaged the Christian witness in America more than this. That's why, I read about a religion powering public policy, and my immediate thought is politics will shape the religion a lot more than vice versa. I don't think a Christian should write off public service, but a Christian should go in knowing darn well, especially in a democracy, that it's far more complex than submitting a Jesus-would-do-this slate of ideas. Attempts to put a deity* in a sociopolitical box are unwise.

Also in 2021, I agreed with your post about your opinion on gross and manipulative Christian persecution complex.

Christians have, to a great degree, done this to ourselves, as I've written over and over (and over) again. No argument from me.

The speech policing happening right now, FWIW, is not particularly in the churches. There are plenty of jackass churches in America that drunk on the phony merger of Americanism and Christianity. It saddens me. It is a poor witness. But they are saying what they wanna say.

There are lots more posts in this regard.

We all know he won Arizona. We all know this is a waste of money and time. The only thing the people of Arizona can do is throw the bums out when the next election rolls around.

You know what? I'm wrong. Every phony effort to reverse a result we all know is true should be covered. It's probably important to document it so, when there are later attempts to do the same thing, there's a record of the GOP's move to undermine legitimate elections. I may find the coverage mind-numbing, but that's immaterial. It's important. And I don't think what's happening in Arizona is a good thing.
